Hermana Naegle: El boleto del Avion........

So this week the secretaries called us to ask us which airport we wanted to arrive at when we go home. It took us by surprise. because we still feel like we're going to be missionaries for eternity.

This week we found several new investigators Urbano, Ester, Rocio, and Sergio (in total we found 8 new investigators but these are the most promising). To said they would come to church on Sunday but didn't show.... but we're gonna get them there! and then we'll get them in the font! and later in the temple!

Yamileth told us that she wants a week to think things over. She was about to tell us that she didn't want to listen anymore but we talked her out of it. My companion is pretty convincing when she speaks. So her week ends on Thursday and we're going to bring the Ward mission leader with us to teach her.

Urban is the husband of Irma. he seems really interested and we're teaching him the restoration today in about an hour. He seems pretty smart and he understands really well and he despises the Catholic church which makes our job easier. We think it will be easier to gt Irma to come to church if her husband Urban comes to church and I think Urabwould be rather willing to come. 

I didn't eat anything weird this week.  Actually that's about all that really happened that's interesting.

I figured out how to send pictures! whoo!

3. .me eating a crab. Crab meat is actually really good. The bad part is that afterwards I found 2 flies in my bowl..... I secretly picked them out and then I ate the whole bowl, because I felt bad and didn't want to make a big deal out of it especially because I knew she had made it with a lot of love and it was a bit expensive. My stomach didn't feel to good the next day I don't know if it was the from the flies or something else.  

Naegle nover: Buda week 4

....was pretty great. This will be a short update because I have had horrible luck with the computers today. Every one I have tried has been atrocious.

      We split with the sisters from Békéscsaba, which was really fun because I served with Sister Williamson in Debrecen and I adore her.

      Krisztián is doing well except between our program on Saturday evening and the next morning he got a cold and couldn't come to church....

      Ati (a new investigator who moved here from Szeged where Sister Dinehart met him) came to church so that was way cool. And he stayed for Sunday School. He looks like a hard, hardcore skater dude with piercings and a way long dreadlock and a gage. Hahaha so funny. He wore a white shirt and tie with his black skater pants to church. It was adorable.

      We tracted into guy this week named Balázs. At the door he said it might not be the best use of time to talk with him because he had a "pretty confident opinion about this" but we said we didn't mind and he let us in. He was a pretty cool kid, our same age, studying medicine.
      He spoke in English and told us he belonged to the Faith Church (although when he said it he said "face church" because Hungarians can't say the "th" sound in faith haha) and we were like "oh, that's nice!" and he continued. He talked about how he had been converted and how he had been cured of his pornography addiction and all these things that were actually really wonderful.    
      We were excited to talk with him about religion and all the things we agreed on but just then he started talking about their meetings and how they cast devils out of each other, among other things. And then I translated faith church in my head and realized...duh duh duh! Hit gyülekezet!!! NOooo! (They are insane but really nice. Kind of like Mormons I guess.) I've heard that they are the only church here where the missionaries aren't allowed to attend their meetings. Probably because they feel the spirit fill them with fire and they believe that every sin is actually a devil that must be cast out of you. Anyway, we talked for a while and shared our message and asked him to read a verse out of the Book of Mormon but he was not having any of that. He was pretty obviously afraid of it.

      Before we left, we asked him if he would say the prayer. He was a little hesitant at first, and he said, "So I should say it how I usually pray?" And we said, "Of course!". So he went and shut the window and then started praying. The words were nice but we were a little taken aback because he shouted the entire thing. He was really nice and said we could come back sometime so maybe we will.

      The moral of the story is that we got to learn a little bit about another religion, expanded our horizons, shared the gospel, and had a great experience. Just another day in the mission.

Naegle Nover: I love Buda February 17th

  We had a great week this week. We split with the sisters from Szeged, so I got to split with Sister Erlandsson and the new missionary that she is training. I served with Sister E in the MTC and in Érd so it was fun to have the old team back together again. We also had a zone training which was pretty good as far as zone trainings go since it was both entertaining and instructive.

      Our investigator named Krisztián unfortunately did not get baptized on Saturday, but he is back on track with a new baptismal date. We were finally able to figure out his concern. He said that he sees the light in all the members and he feels like he doesn't have that light. (Which is actually true since he doesn't have the Gift of the Holy Ghost yet.) He was also really worried that the members would judge him because he hasn't been to church in a while. We calmed his fears and he committed to come to church and I am happy to report that he had a wonderful experience. The members were really nice to him and he is going to sing in the choir starting next week.
     Our investigator Lívia is doing great! In three lessons' time she has kind of started to believe in God. And she even tried praying at home although she said it felt super "false" to her. So we are working with her and I think she is doing amazingly considering she was a cold hard atheist before.
      Yesterday we had the best lesson with a former investigator who apparently was going to get baptized but wouldn't give up coffee and such. Since I am new I took advantage of the opportunity to ask her a bunch of questions and she said that she absolutely believes the Book of Mormon is true and that she wants to be baptized. Since the last time the sisters met with her she quit coffee and now she is working on the other challenge, which is that she lives with her ex-husband. I am soooo excited to work with her.

      Since we stacked a lot of programs on the day we had splits, we had a couple of days of straight finding. We were feeling kind of worn and bummed about it, but on the second day we decided to go tract a building where we had unsuccessfully tried to look up an inactive member a few days before. To our suprise, someone actually buzzed us into the building and when we went up to the door we discovered that it was a man who many years ago had met with the missionaries. We had a nice lesson with him and he said we could come back. It wasn't really a huge deal, but to us it meant a lot and gave us the motivation to keep going.

      Heavenly Father loves us all a lot, and He sometimes pushes us a little farther than we would like to go, but He always sends us help. I am so grateful for His love and for the opportunity that I have to serve a mission and tell people about Him.

Hermana Naegle February 16th

The weeks are going by faster and faster! I can't believe it. I've now been out for 15 months? I think... I lost count. Anyways a bummer but our baptism fell through this week :( but hopefully it will happen this coming Saturday. I'll let ya'll know what happens.

Unfortunately we've been a bit overloaded and we didn't have a chance to see Yamileth this week we stopped by several times but she wasn't there every time :( But we're hoping to see her soon! because she's awesome!

But Williams came to church with his ENTIRE family (his family is less active) but he sat them all down and we taught them with some rather powerful words and there were some tears and fears shared and low and behold they came to church! now we just have to hope that they'll keep it up!

Also Miguel Angel gave an amazing talk in church!!!! about Tithing. he shared his testimony and even cried! it was so sweet. He spent the entire day on Sunday with us as we went around visiting. He's a stud. He also opened up a lot and shared some experiences with us. He's also started saving up for his mission. he's 14.

We had a cool experience with Irma. We brought sister Ines with us to visit her and she was able to share her conversion story. IT was cool. Irma told us that she was going to really pray about it and see what God tells her. She's such a doll. The good thing is that her son is Christian has explained to her already about why the Catholic church isn't true. That makes our job SO MUCH Easier.

We met a crazy lady the other day in the Plaza. She told us that she didn't believe that God would answer her prayers. She pretty much kept contradicting her self with everything she was saying but it mostly made me sad becasue she's a good person and she really needs the gospel in her life (everyone really needs the gospel in their lives) and she just doesn't believe that God loves her enough to talk to her.

The crazy guy from the town square came up to us again the other day and was about to start ranting but all I said was ''gracias hermano. Adios'' and we booked it! because he really is nuts!!! and I honestly don't think that would have been able keep it cool if he had started his crazy rantings and i probably would have punched him. He did touch my arm and that flipped my companion out. She wanted to go back and get him to talk and call him out for touching my arm but I didn't let her. She's so funny, super protective, we're really good friends.

We were searching for new investigators and we met this guy who practices black magic.... well he says that he USED to practice it but we're pretty sure that he still practices. he told us his story. It went a bit like this but I'll just give you he shortened version:

he was a drug addict who practiced black magic and had a contract with the devil. Then the devil started asking him for big things and asked him for his son. The devil told him that either him or his son had to go. So then he flipped out at the devil and decided to serve God. But it was hard for him to give up his past life and he would fall back again and again into drugs. Then one day he was so drugged up that he died and had a weird out of body experience. Where he was walking a straight path and at one side there were some dancers and that they invited him to come dance but he didn't want to he wanted to follow the straight path. Then he got to the ''gates of the paradise of God'' where Saint Peter (who apparently was half naked...) told him that he couldn't enter and that he hadn't fulfilled his life's purpose. He asked half-naked Peter if he could go back but Peter said he could only go back if he passed some sort of crazy carnival test thing.. I got a bit confused at what he was saying in this part.... but I guess he passed the test and was able to come back.... he was going to continue telling his story but my companion set an alarm on the phone and faked a phone call so we could get out of there. It was really weird. Very weird. His eyes scared me. Also I'm pretty sure he's put a curse on his wife.

on Sunday sister Sol gave us the most delicious lunch. Pure seafood but SO SO SO GOOD! the good thing about living by the sea is that the seafood is all very fresh!  There wa sa shrimp pineapple thing that she served us inside the pineapple. then some empenadas de camaron (like shrimp tacos but they're not the same thing....)  and then a seafood broth. It was all really good. 

We had a conference of just sisters. It was cool. We had an hour of just pure doctrinal questions. I had some of my biggest questions answered. It was cool. President Wagner knows so much stuff and he back its ALL up with the scriptures. It's amazing, _He'll explain a scripture that we've read like a million times and he explains it in a way that blows our minds. Its awesome!

Herman Naegle: Luis got baptized! February 9th

So the best news of the week is that Luis got baptized on Sunday at 8:30 in the morning before sacrament meeting. we had planned the baptism for Friday at six but the boiler wasn't working and then his wife got sick and couldn't make it so we put it off for  turned out for the best because every thing was in place and ready to go so it was smooth sailing on Sunday.

Our recent convert Miguel Angel is going to give a talk in sacrament meeting this coming Sunday so were going to help him out with that. I'm excited. he's 14 but incredibly intelligent and understands everything we teach him. he's even started coming with us teach lessons and he just pipes up and shares what he knows and its really incredible. The people here tell us that they've seen a difference in him because before he was a bit of a stinker but he's been changing a lot. he shared in a lesson with out investigator Irma and afterwards she gave a kiss on the cheek and said that he was such a darling. It was pretty funny and sweet. He wants to prepare to go on a mission. he even called me out in a lesson because I forgot to explain how we pray and he quickly reminded me that I needed to do that.

This coming Saturday Orlando is getting baptized. and the Saturday after that Nadia, his mom, is getting baptized. We are just loaded with baptisms! We have a new investigator Maria Jose. She's living with a family from the branch. they asked us to come and visit her so we went and we started teaching but the girl had an attitude and wasn't really paying attention then she told me that she didn't understand my Spanish because of a silly reason that takes to long to explain and is completely false and we saw right through it and my companion got mad (she didn't do anything just ended the lesson and it was a good thing that she did because the Spirit left and we had lst control of the lesson) so we left her homework to read the pamphlet and set up an appointment to come back. well let me give you a bit of her background story her parents aren't good parents and so to get attention from her parents she acts out, so her mom ran her out and now she's living with these members I don't remember how they know each other there's some sort of family connection but I didn't quite catch what it was. Anyways her mom told her that she never wants to see her again etc. etc. So Maria told us that she doesn't believe in God the first time we met with her.  well our next appointment came around but we had something come up and we couldn't go and to tell the truth neither of us really wanted to go. Then we saw her the other day in William's baptism and she came up to us and told us she was sorry that she hadn't showed up,  she also had something come up and couldn't make it, and then a bit sheepishly she asked us when we could come and see her again. We told her we weren't sure because the truth is that we are super duper swamped right now so we told her we would come by in the week. so we came by a like two days later and we started chatting with her and she tells us that she had started reading the pamphlet about the restoration and that she read a part that said something like ''even though men say that there isn't a god and don't believe in him he's always there with them and he will always love them''. She said that when she read that part it struck her deeply and that she felt a ton of peace and that she fell asleep because she had never felt so much peace before in her life ad before she'd had trouble sleeping but because she felt so much peace she slept really well. She told us that she knows that the church is true and that know she knows there is a God and that he loves her. it was pretty cool. She still has a bit of a hard time paying attention because she likes to interrupt with random comments but she understands everything and really gets the concept that this is the only true church. She accepted getting baptized but she didn't want to put a date on it yet for several reasons, one she wants to learn a little bit more, and two her mom is super anti-Mormon. So we are going to have  fun time asking permission this week. Maria has gone to church like five times and could get baptized this Saturday if her mom gives her permission. But I think we'll let it take a few weeks so that we don't overload her with all the information because we've only taught her the first lesson so far.

Well in terms of food I ate a fish that was still had its head and scales and everything. I ate two actually because it was really good. But I'm pretty sure the eyeballs melted when she fried it because thats how is looked. But that was the only thing out of the ordinary.

PS I met an american (actually I'm not sure if he was american because he had a weird accent but he was speaking English and he had lived in Lehi Utah before he moved to San Blas) Who told me some crazy stuff that there's no need for the scriptures and he kept comparing God to frogs.........he has a weird fascination with frogs he kept bringing them up in the conversation.... and he told me that he calls God the great IT. I told him that was disrespectful. Then I told him that he doesn't have true intent and then he asked me to explain true intent and I would start to explain and he would interrupt me with more frog nonsense and then he told me that I couldn't explain to him true intent but it was because he kept talking about FROGS!! Then at the end of the conversation he started saying the F word so we left really fast. But the conversation was pretty funny until he stated swearing. We actually have another American friend here his name is Bill. he lives her in San Blas. It was Bill who introduced us to the Frog man (I don't remember his name). Bill is nice and he considers us his friends but he doesn't want to listen.

Naegle nover: Buda 2 February 9th

      Well, just another great week in Buda! Actually our work is terrible, but that's okay. We have one really cool investigator that was a referral from a member and she has a long way to go, but she is progressing. Our other solid investigator was supposed to get baptized this Saturday, but he didn't come to church and then dogged our program this morning and the whole time his phone has been "nem elérhető". In English that means he either blocked us or had his phone turned off. A couple of hours later he texted us saying, among other things, that he doesn't feel ready yet for baptism and wants to wait until March. Which is fine, we just would prefer to not find out through a text. Also, the week before he didn't come to church either because apparently he was busy preaching the gospel to a bunch of young people. We are a little concerned that he might be starting his own religion...

      In other news, we went tracting and actually got let-in by a really cool girl. We gave her a copy of the Mormon könyve, and even though she didn't really want us to come back she said she would probably come to our free English class.

      On Saturday we got to go to a baptism for one of the elders' investigators. It was really nice and I got to play the piano for the hymns and I accompanied a member who sang. It was fun. I've actually been able to play the piano a lot, which is nice.

Hermana Naegle: Williams and seaturtles February 2nd

Soooo We had another baptism! His name is Williams Santos Sojo Garcia.  just love that they named him Williams with an ''s''. very classy every time I say ''lets go see Williams'' I feel like we're about to go visit the prince of England.

There are so many things that happen i the wee and I always think '' hey I'll write about that in my letter Monday'' and then I get here in front of the computer and I forget it all.

But I d remember something that I forgot to tell you all the last time. About two weeks ago we ate SEA TURTLE. it was really good and rather illegal. But in our defense we are in Mexico.... Just kidding. In our defense we had no idea what it was until after we had eaten it. I thought it was beef stew that tasted a bit like the sea... I was really good. like super delicious.

Hmmmmm what else... oh yeah. yesterday we were contacting in the town square when the dude who runs the Foosball games came up to me and started freaking out because we had cards with images of Christ on them that it was like worshiping idols. He kept yelling at us to read Exodus 20. and then he left and came back ad yelled at us some more and told us that we actually didn't need our Bible to preach, we just needed to pray to God to open our mouths and let the Holy Spirit flow through us because that's how the Bible teaches us to do it.... it made no sense. he then called us hypocrites and started bashing the catholic church. We thought it was pretty funny.  He was talking so fast tha I really don't think he was breathing. 

Luis is getting baptized this Saturday. we're pretty excited. He's 26 and he's the son in law of the branch president here in San Blas.

We're hoping that Camilla will get baptized the following week. She has all the lessons and wants to get baptized but she just needs permission from her grandmother.

We have a new investigator Yamileth. She's awesome. She really smart She has a lot of questions but I've ever seen anyone understand the restoration that fast. We've only taught her once but went back to make another appointment and she told us that she's reading her book of Mormon and that she has a lot of questions. Please please please pray that she will come to church! and also Irma!!!! she needs to come to church!!!! and also pray for the Sojo family that they will understand the sacrament and become active again.

well that's about all I can remember. Also its raining like crazy here. They say that it is a cold front that's coming in. But it unusual because its not the rainy season. But it is a nice break from the hot sun. every thing is cool and I'm using a scarf.

I'll try to send some pictures of the baptisms we've had but I've had a hard time loading them on these computers here.

Oh yeah we also had interviews with our mission president. They went really well.

Naegle Nover: BUDA!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Last week I ran out of time before I hit send so I am including my email from last week as well as this week.
Last week:
Hello all, we had a tough week but a good one. One of the highlights was delivering a Book of Mormon to the neighbors of a senior couple who used to live here. They are the cutest little family. Just the mom was home and she invited us in and said we could come back. Gabi came to a Relief Society Acitivity, a game night, a baptism, and then to church. And then to Family Home Evening the next day. She is finally starting to interact with the members more and seem comfortable. We also finally met with an inactive guy that we've wanted to meet with for a while. At first he said he would only meet with us for English help, nothing more. So we agreed and figured we'd just start with a prayer and talk in English about prayer and stuff. So we did and we planned to meet with him at the branch house right before an activity so we could get him to stay and it turned out really well. The members were great about reaching out to him.

This week:

Today we got transfer calls and I will be going to serve in Buda tomorrow. I will be serving with one of my MTC companions and I am really excited.
Today we went to the zoo with the Vierneses and the elders and had a blast looking at the different exhibits and then going out to lunch. I am really going to the miss the Vierneses. They are so cool and really made our holidays a good experience. One of the big highlights of the day was that as we showed up to the zoo, a group of missionaries from Debrecen was leaving it. They had with them Laci, who got baptized right after I left Debrecen. It was really cool to see him. He is super happy about his baptism and obviously loves the gospel.

This week:
I LOVE Buda! I don't actually know why, because the work is technically not as great as the work I left behind but I have always wanted to serve here and I am happy to be in the city again. It's completely different from serving in the smaller cities. It's also different being out of the eastern part of the country. Even the accent is different. I've had to reset my Hungarian brain a little bit.

I don't have much to tell about investigators because it's only been a few days. We have one investigator who is supposed to get baptized next week so that is pretty exciting. Yesterday we had our first lesson with a really cool lady. She is the coworker of a member and he not only referred us to her but came to the lesson as well and helped a lot. I was super impressed because that has pretty much never happened on my mission and that's how it is technically supposed to be. The funny thing is, it kind of threw us off a little because we're so not used to it. She said she would read the entire Book of Mormon so I am really happy for her and looking forward to helping her progress. People from the stake come here often for different trainings and activities so I have already had the opportunity to see some people from my first transfer, including Laci from Kispest (not Debrecen Laci). It was so great to talk with him and hear about how much he loved getting the Gift of the Holy Ghost and how he can feel the difference and has been on splits with the elders and passed the sacrament and is planning on going to the temple to be baptized for his father.

Being in Buda, seeing all these people, and serving around people from the MTC makes me feel like I've come full circle. I will most likely stay here until the end of my mission and that is pretty strange. I am really excited to see what these next four months have in store.
